OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Former District 1 State Sen. Julie Slama announced her candidacy for Nebraska State Treasurer on Monday.
Slama announced last year she would not seek re-election after representing the district for six years. Current Treasurer Tom Briese was appointed in 2023 by Gov. Jim Pillen.
“Nebraskans deserve a leader who will work tirelessly to deliver conservative wins,” said Slama. “As your next State Treasurer, I’ll defend Nebraskans’ conservative principles, ensure your hard-earned tax dollars are spent and invested wisely, and stand up to government waste, fraud, and abuse.”
The state treasurer serves a term of four years.
The primary election is May 12. The general election is Nov. 3, one from today.
