ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Daylight Saving time has officially ended which means sunsets are happening earlier.
We spoke with officials about the dangers of driving in the dark, especially during an active time of the year for deer.
The time change just made your drive home at night darker - but also more dangerous since we are reaching the peak of deer mating season.
“With a higher risk of crashes involving deer we’re asking motorists to be extra vigilant to be cautious and to be safe on the roads,” said Virginia Department of Transportation Spokesperson, Jason Snyder.
According to VDOT, night driving is dangerous because visibility is limited to about 250 feet for normal headlights, giving you less time to react.
