LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - This time of year, it can be grueling to get out and stay active, but a simple tip for those who are willing not to “freeze” their workouts is to remember their “warmups”.
Doctor of Physical Therapy Colin Laughlin said a crucial step in preventing cold weather workout strain is having a good stretch.
“You’ve got to get more blood flowing because it is a little bit colder. It takes a little bit longer for our blood to heat up the muscles. All of that stuff’s things to consider when you start moving into the colder months and all that,” Dr. Laughlin said.
A simple stretch to remember is one that activates your hip flexors and hamstrings, muscles that are used for running.
