A former monk, who sexually abused children while working at a Catholic boarding school, has died behind bars. Peter Turner, from Redcar , was jailed for almost 21 years after he admitted a string of historic sex offences.
The then 80-year-old admitted charges of indecent assault, a serious sexual assault and gross indecency against three boys on the day of his trial at York Crown Court in 2020. Turner, who was previously known as Father Gregory Carroll, committed the offences decades earlier while working at Ampleforth College, in North Yorkshire , and a parish in Workington, in Cumbria.
On February 6, earlier this year, Turner died of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm at HMP Swaleside, which is located close to the village of Eastchurch on the Isle of Sheppey, in Kent. He was
