A multi-agency search is currently underway for Devon Dobek, a 51-year-old experienced hunter from Hubbard, Oregon, who has been missing since Friday evening in the Mount Hood National Forest. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reported that Dobek was last in contact with a friend around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, indicating he was returning early from his hunting trip after successfully hunting a deer.

Authorities located Dobek's truck near the Fish Creek Trailhead, but there were no signs of him or the deer. This prompted a large-scale search operation that began Friday night and has since involved over 100 rescuers. Search teams are utilizing drones, all-terrain vehicles, and canine units to assist in the effort. Air support has also been provided by the Oregon National Guard and the 304th Rescue Squadron, which deployed a helicopter to aid in the search.

During the initial search, gunshots were heard at various times, believed to be from Dobek, but search teams have been unable to determine their exact location. The search has been complicated by poor weather conditions, including cool and rainy weather, which has affected visibility and communication. Officials noted that cellphone and GPS signals in the area are weak or non-existent, making tracking efforts challenging.

The search operation has included support from various organizations, including Mountain Wave Emergency Communications, Portland Mountain Rescue, and Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue.
