An OVI checkpoint is being planned somewhere in Mahoning County during the weekend of November 7, 2025.
According to a news release, the checkpoint will be conducted by the Mahoning County OVI Task Force and will be accompanied by saturation patrols.
Details on the specific location and time of the checkpoint will be released later in the week.
The goal of OVI checkpoints, according to the release, is to make sure roadways are safer.
A 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires that drivers be notified of sobriety checkpoints before they happen to avoid violating protections against illegal searches and seizures.
However, the ruling did not specify what constitutes an adequate notification.
