GRAND MARIAS, Minn. — Tragedy was avoided over the weekend After a sightseer Was swept into the cold and choppy waters of Lake Superior in Grand Marais.
The water emergency happened around 4:50 p.m. Sunday.
Four people were out walking to the lighthouse when one of them was pulled into the lake by waves, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman’s friends and a nearby angler eventually rescued her from the rough water.
The woman had a bad headache and was too weak to walk after.
Sheriff Deputy Will Sandstrom arrived to help her to safer, warmer ground.
