More than 16,000 people in Richmond and Columbia counties voted in advance in the three weeks leading up to 2025's area municipal general and special elections on Tuesday, Nov 4.

As voters head to the polls Tuesday to help decide a slate of local races, 8,327 people already voted in Richmond County, according to Travis Doss, executive director of the Augusta-Richmond County Board of Elections.

Doss said he was expecting a total turnout between 10% and 15% of Richmond County registered voters. About 6.5% had already voted since early and advanced voting began Oct. 14 and ended on Halloween, he said.

In Columbia County, 7,738 people voted early, said Nancy Gay, executive director of that county's Board of Elections.
