The control room received a report of the suspicious device at 11.33am on Tuesday, November 4. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit - otherwise known as the bomb squad - have been contacted and are assessing the device.

The force is urging people to avoid the area. An update states: "A suspicious device has been found near Boston Police Station and a 100m cordon is currently in place.

"We received the report at 11.33am via the Force Control Room. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit have been contacted and they are assessing the device. Please avoid the area. We will provide updates as and when we have them."
