MONTGOMERY- With SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits being discontinued for many households, thousands of families across Orange, Sullivan and Rockland counties are confronting the grim choice of paying bills or putting food on the table. In response, the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) today announced the launch of the Community Harvest Fund, a pooled emergency fund designed to bolster food security and rapid-response support for community partners.
The fund will:
award rapid-response grants to food pantries, soup kitchens and other frontline organizations;
partner with local food banks and mutual-aid networks to accelerate food distribution;
support innovative, community-based solutions that build long-term food resilience.
