QUEBEC – There was more drama at the provincial legislature Tuesday when a Coalition Avenir Québec MNA called in the media to make a statement on her political future in the party but then suddenly cancelled the news conference.
Laporte MNA Isabelle Poulet had called a 9:30 a.m. news conference but even as reporters were making their way to the event they received an advisory that it was off.
Instead, they were told Poulet would be meeting with Premier François Legault later Tuesday. It is believed he is trying to convince her to stay.
“Her reflection took on another perspective,” an official in her riding told The Gazette.
La Presse had reported Poulet intended to quit the CAQ to sit as an independent in much the same way Social Services Minister Lionel Carmant did last Thursday .
