SLIDELL, La. (WFLA) — The Slidell Police Department said an officer responded to a shoplifting in progress on Nov. 1, leading to a chase after a Florida woman fled the store.

The woman, Kelsey Baird from Navarre, discarded the items she attempted to steal from Dillard's upon spotting the officer, SPD said.

According to body camera footage, the officer spoke to Baird, asking her to walk with him before she fled into the parking lot.

SPD said the officer attempted to stop Baird, but the on-foot chase ended once Baird entered a parked car.

The driver and Baird's friend, Eric Boudreaux, waited in the parking lot and began honking his horn to indicate his location to Baird, SPD said.
