On Tuesday at 12:25 p.m. the National Weather Service released a high wind watch valid from Wednesday 1 p.m. until Thursday 1 p.m. for Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison, Oneida and Cortland counties.

"West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible," adds the weather service. "Isolated stronger gusts above 60 mph are not out of the question, especially within thunderstorms that are expected to move through between 6 and 9 p.m. Wednesday."

"Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," comments the weather service. "Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds."
