SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) -- The trials of two EMS workers accused of murder were delayed by five months during their most recent court appearance.

Peter Cadigan and Peggy Finley were in court on Monday for a pre-trial hearing, with their trials set to begin a month later on Dec. 1. But during the hearing, State's Attorney John Milhiser said, it was announced that their trials would instead start in May. Milhiser did not provide a reason for the delay.

Cadigan and Finley are each accused of one count of first-degree murder in the death of Earl Moore Jr. on December 18, 2022. The two of them responded to a call concerning Moore having a hallucinatory episode, and body camera footage shows they strapped Moore to their stretcher in a face-down position.
