Detailed plans have been submitted revealing the proposed design for a new student accommodation block in Edinburgh.

Plans were previously put to the council to tear down the former bowling club on Russell Road in the Roseburn area, and replace it with purpose-built flats.

The development was described as "major" as the area is in excess of 5,000sqm.

The building has more recently been in use as a builder's yard after the club closed in 2011. Several applications to demolish the building for student accommodation were received in 2016 and 2017, which were later withdrawn.

A new planning application features visuals of what the seven-storey block would look like, with the development comprising a total of 182 beds, comprising a combination of cluster and studio flats.
