The Gaston County Board of Commissioners is considering modifying the parking system at the county courthouse, a move that could mean a return to paid parking.
The Board of Commissioners heard a presentation Oct. 28, from Wilson Lemly, assistant director of Auxiliary Services for the county.
Lemly told the Board of Commissioners that paid parking was first initiated in Gaston County in 2007, at a rate of $1 per hour and a $5 maximum per day.
From 2007-2022, when the county ended paid parking, the county generated just over $1.8 million in parking fees.
