The good Samaritan who helped police catch a shoplifting suspect in Slidell will be honored with a citizenship award on Tuesday, the Slidell Police Department said.
On Sunday, showing officers track down two suspects connected to a shoplifting incident at the Dillards at 940 Town Center Parkway.
According to police, a detail officer was alerted to a shoplifting in progress and spotted 34-year-old Kelsey Baird of Navarre, Florida trying to steal items. The officer said he watched Baird discard the items and try to leave the store.
Slidell Police Sgt. Jeff Kahrs tried to stop Baird as she fled on foot into the parking lot. Her friend, 43-year-old Eric Boudreaux of Biloxi, Mississippi, had been waiting outside in his car. Police said Baird got into the passenger seat, and he drove off.
