SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - A man has been arrested after police say he attempted to kill a Veterans Memorial volunteer during an argument.
At around 1:00 p.m. on Monday, officers with the Sparks Police Department responded to the Sparks Marina at 300 Howard Drive for reports of a fight in progress at the Memorial.
When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Michael Paulsen, who was placed under arrest.
SPD says that a volunteer, identified as 65-year-old Michael Hess, was cleaning the area surrounding the Memorial when he came upon Paulsen, who was sitting against the wall of the Memorial.
Police say Paulsen verbally confronted Hess. They say Paulsen, unprovoked, pushed Hess to the ground and kicked him several times before grabbing a piece of rock and striking Hess several times in the h
