AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — A 50–year–old Aiken County man is now charged with murder after investigators say he stabbed his step-father to death and critically injured his mother during an early-morning attack this week.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded around 1:20 a.m. on November 2 to a home on the 500 block of John Scott Road for a reported stabbing. When deputies arrived, they found both victims — Mark Douglas Burch and his wife, Christine Ehler Burch — suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Deputies say the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Dale York Carlin III, was located on scene and arrested.
