Police have charged a man over the death of Victorian woman Melinda Freeman more than 30 years ago.
Ms Freeman, 27, was found dead in her home in Whittlesea, north-east of Melbourne, in October 1991.
Detectives said she had been assaulted and the house appeared to have been ransacked.
Earlier that day, Ms Freeman and her husband had been at a family reunion, but she had later been left alone in the house to study.
Police said her husband returned to the house to find the front door open and the body of Ms Freeman lying on the top storey landing.
A 63-year-old man was arrested this morning at his home in Greensborough and was interviewed by police.
He has since been charged with murder and will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
Police say the man was known to Ms Freeman.
