WYOMING, MI -- A driver charged with second-degree murder following a Christmas Eve freeway crash that killed a passenger in his car had alcohol, marijuana and cocaine in his system, police allege.
Fernando Ocampo-Aguilar, 28, is charged with the murder count, as well as operating while intoxicated causing death, operating with a revoked suspended causing death and third-offense operating while intoxicated.
State police said Ocampo-Aguilar was driving a 2012 Cadillac south on U.S. 131 about 3 a.m. Dec. 24, 2023. The vehicle crashed about 3 a.m. near 54th Street, rolling and ejecting passenger Kathy Lee Hernandez.
Hernandez, a 24-year-old mother of two, died.
