* Today marks the nation’s first major Election Day since President Donald Trump returned to the White House. * If the shutdown continues through Tuesday night, which lawmakers believe is almost certain, it will shatter that record, set during Trump’s first term. Trump signed legislation ending that shutdown in the 9 p.m. hour on the 35th day. * The Senate failed for the 14th time to advance a bill that would’ve reopened the government until Nov. 21. * The Trump administration said that it will provide partial SNAP benefits for November by tapping into the program’s contingency funds. However, recipients may not see the payments for weeks.
