DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney has died at 84 years old .
Cheney was known for his significant role in shaping U.S. foreign policy, particularly during the War on Terror and the Iraq War.
In 2000, Centre College in Danville hosted a vice presidential debate featuring Cheney and his opponent Joe Lieberman. Jamey Leahey, Centre College General Counsel, was part of the debate organizing committee.
“We had quite a festival here. There were thousands of people here. And of course, where the debate was mostly a television production, which is what it is. But we had 800 of our students in there. We insisted on having students in there as part of what we were doing,” Leahey said.
