RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) -- For nearly 40 years, people across the Triangle turned to Bill Reh for the forecast. CBS 17 viewers knew him for his endless energy, whether at 4:30 a.m. or 11 p.m.

Behind the scenes, Bill is exactly what you see on TV. No one knows that better than Shields Reh, Bill's wife of nearly 4 decades. The two met in the 1980s at a Chapel Hill bar.

“She thought she knew me from school, and her friends said, ‘No, that's the weather guy. Let's go meet him,’ and I followed her out of the bar, bought her a drink,” Bill recalled.

“If anybody knows Bill Reh, that was serious, to buy a 50-cent Budweiser,” Shields joked.
