Syracuse, N.Y. — Nearly 77,000 people had voted across Onondaga County by 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Onondaga County Board of Elections.

The polls are open until 9 p.m.

About 59,755 people had cast ballots by 6 p.m. on Election Day. That’s in addition to 17,218 voters who took part in early voting and 4,239 who have returned mail-in ballots so far.

Dustin Czarny, the county’s Democratic elections commissioner said this is a normal turnout for local elections. Many people typically show between 7-9 p.m., he said.

In 2021, the last mayoral election, nearly 93,000 people voted in Onondaga County.
