WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Nearly 200 high school students from around Sedgwick County spent Tuesday learning about careers in public service.
Wichita Public Schools, along with the Wichita Crime Commission and Wichita State University, hosted the annual Youth Engagement in Public Service Conference at the Rhatigan Student Center.
Students had the chance to go to breakout sessions and connect with those in careers that interest them, like EMS, 911, and firefighting.
“It’s really exciting for me to actually be able to come to these events, and actually be able to see the people that will actually help me get to where I want to go,” said one of the students in attendance.
“We believe that this opens up ideas that they didn’t even know existed, and many of these careers you don’t have to have
