WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Voters in Hutchinson rejected the school district’s request for an approximate $109.5 million bond, the district’s first in nearly 20 years .
The unofficial final count from Tuesday night shows the bond questions failing by more than 2,400 votes (2,683 to 1,253). This accounted for an approximate count of 74.6% opposed to the bond issue versus 25.4% in favor.
The district planned to close five of its buildings, including the two current Hutchinson middle schools. The district also planned to repurpose one building for Pre-K and district offices. The other would’ve sold or put up for rent.
