BLAINE, Maine — Human remains were recently found in the Aroostook County town of Blaine.

State police confirmed Tuesday that a Blaine resident discovered the remains.

According to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss, investigators from Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-North responded to the scene on Oct. 30.

The remains were taken to the chief medical examiner's office in Augusta. The process of identification could take some time, Moss said.

Officials are not releasing further details while the investigation is ongoing, Moss said.
