A Vancouver taxi driver who used his cab to assist a dial-a-dope operation in 2021 will get to serve his 20-month sentence in the community.
B.C. Supreme Court Justice Heather MacNaughton convicted MD Rafiqul Islam in February of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and handed down the conditional sentence on Monday.
MacNaughton told Islam that his “decision to engage in the drug trade by using your taxi to distribute drugs for a significant drug-trafficking operation is a very serious offence that has elements of sophistication.”
