ST. GEORGE, La. (WAFB) - A suspect was arrested for allegedly setting fire to a St. George home on purpose, officials said.

According to the St. George Fire Department, Stan Granier is facing charges of aggravated arson and arson with intent to defraud.

Firefighters responded to the home to fight the fire around 4 a.m. on August 11, 2025. When they got to the scene on Pecue Lane off of Highland Road, they saw flames coming from the north side of the two-story home.

Crews were able to put out the flames and protect surrounding areas. No injuries were reported.

Investigators said they determined that Granier set fire to the home with the intent to obtain insurance money.

Granier was taken into custody on the morning of Tuesday, November 4.
