SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors voted to replace Supervisor Mark Nelson as the county’s representative on the Law Enforcement Authority Board.
Supervisor David Dietrich will take over for Nelson on the board, which was created to orchestrate the design and construction of the county’s new jail.
The switch comes as mediation is set to begin for the Law Enforcement Center. According to Iowa open meeting laws, in order to have the mediations be private, Nelson wouldn’t be able to serve as the county representative. That’s because doing so would require the mediation to be announced and open to the public.
Nelson said the change was supported by the other supervisors and members of the public.
