OMAHA, Neb. —

An Omaha mother is speaking out after losing her son, 27-year-old Leonard Jones II, to gun violence , days after Jones's 3-month-old daughter died of spontaneous intestinal perforation.

His mother, Tawana Robinson, says she hopes Omaha police can find the person of interest in her son's killing, 32-year-old Ricardo Kirk . Robertson told police that Kirk is a cousin of the family. Authorities confirmed they are following leads on Kirk's whereabouts.

"It's not fair. My loving child is gone because [Kirk] is an ignorant person that's hurting and don't know how to deal with it," Robinson said. "I raised him as brothers. I mean, more than just cousins ... he took, he took advantage of the trust my son had for him."
