MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Maryville College football team is gearing up for its biggest matchup of the season, a battle for first place in the Southern Athletic Association.
The Scots, 7-1 (4-1), are coming off back-to-back conference wins by 20 points or more and will travel to Berry College this weekend to face the top-seeded Vikings, 7-1 (5-0).
Berry is the reigning SAA champion, earning its first playoff bid last year. But it was Maryville that handed the Vikings a loss in the opening round of the postseason.
This weekend’s rematch will determine who takes control of the conference standings prior to the final weekend of the regular season. Head coach Ben Fox said his team is confident heading into the matchup.
