AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) - Election night has wrapped up in Aiken, and three city council seats have been decided.
More than 2,000 people cast ballots here in Aiken for those three city council seats — and one district race was a really close one.
Election leaders say turnout was steady, with no major issues reported.
With most precincts reporting, Democrats held a slight lead in straight-party voting over Republicans.
District 4 saw the highest turnout in Aiken’s city council races, with more than a thousand ballots cast — Republican Peter Messina won with 66 percent of the vote.
District 5 was the tightest race of the night, with Democrat Braylen D. Waldo edging out Republican Kent Cubbage by just 12 votes, 362 to 350.
In District 6, Republican Barbara Morgan beat out Democrat Lisa Smith
