GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The Alachua County School Board voted unanimously to begin exploring search firms to help find a new permanent superintendent.
Board member Tina Certain raised concerns about past superintendent searches, calling them ineffective since the superintendents were eventually fired by the board.
Interim Superintendent Kamela Patton is facing criticism from the NAACP, who claim she is overwhelming staff and spending money on ineffective programs.
The board’s unanimous vote moves the district forward in the process of identifying search firms to assist with finding permanent leadership.
