BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Across California, millions of voters have waited in line at their local polling locations or have dropped their ballots via mail. And here in the Golden Empire, the voting process is alive and well.
"I had to park a mile away, but I did it because I had to get my voice heard, my neighbor's voice heard," said voter Charles Brantley. "And I think it's great seeing this turnout. It hasn't been like this in a while, so I'm happy to see it. I don't mind walking through traffic here."
Registrar of Voters Aimee Espinoza has been busy managing the county's election process. Based on the mail-in ballot returns so far, she's expecting a turnout of 40 to 50% of the Kern County electorate.
