BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Brownsville residents voted to reject property tax increases Tuesday night, according to Cameron County unofficial election results.
Approximately 5,847 residents voted against Brownsville ISD Proposition A, and 6,199 residents voted against Proposition B.
This is the third time Brownsville ISD has attempted to pass the bond proposal.
Proposition A
Brownsville ISD Proposition A was a property tax increase of a district budget of no more than $385,000,000.
The district planned to distribute the funds to repair outdated schools and equipment, as well as renovate and construct a new Career and Technical Education building and a new District transportation building.
