BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
The government shutdown will likely reach day 36 on Wednesday after a deal wasn’t reached on Tuesday. That means this shutdown will become the longest one in American history.
One Birmingham business owner stepped up to help government employees and SNAP benefits recipients during what some are calling “hard times.”
Charnita Horton celebrated her birthday by giving back to those affected by the government shutdown on Tuesday. She partnered with a dozen food trucks to give out free food. The line was wrapped around the block with more 300 hundred people, which just going to show how big the need for that support is right now.
