Vancouver voters are rejecting a charter amendment that would change the way they elect their city council members.

Preliminary election results released Tuesday night show Vancouver’s Proposed Charter Amendment 13 is failing by more than 13 percentage points, with 14,800 (56.85 percent) votes against and 11,235 (43.15 percent) votes for the amendment.

Council elections in Vancouver are held on a citywide basis, with all seven members of the council — including the mayor — representing all Vancouver constituents.
