Gregg Eriksen won election to the Onondaga County Legislature’s 6th district on Tuesday with 51.91% of the vote.
Eriksen, a Democrat, defeated the Republican incumbent, Julie Abbott, a well known person in the community, by a narrow margin.
Eriksen received 4,309 votes to Abbott’s 3,984 (47.99%).
The 203 registered absentee voters will not be enough to make up 325 vote difference.
The 6th district includes all of Skaneateles, Marcellus, Spafford and part of Camillus. The legislature position is part time and pays $38,478.
Eriksen, 42, is a lawyer originally from Orange County, N.Y. He moved to the area to go to law school at Syracuse University, where he met his wife, Meryl, who is from Skaneateles. They have two elementary-age daughters and a son entering kindergarten next year.
