KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Several new bills under consideration are aimed at stopping the flow of nitazenes, a newly emerging deadly narcotic, to the United States.

On Monday, Nov. 3, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) announced that a bipartisan slate of bills has been introduced to address the rise in nitazenes.

Sen. Schmitt noted that nitzenes are a new class of synthetic opioids that are stronger and deadlier than fentanyl.

“Nitazenes are powerful synthetic opioids that are stronger than fentanyl, cheaper to produce, and devastatingly lethal,” Schmitt said. “Their high potency and increased prevalence in Missouri will cost lives and devastate communities.
