ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -Video from a home security camera in Sappington, Missouri captures a bright flash of light overhead in the sky at 1:13 am Wednesday.

This “shooting star” lit up the sky late Tuesday/ early Wednesday morning as a most likely result of the Southern Taurid meteor shower which peaked during the overnight/ early morning hours.

There are three current meteor showers occurring including the Orionids, Southern Taurids, and the Northern Taurids.

Often times, during the overlap of the Northern and Southern Taurids, there is often times an increase in the frequency of meteors seen. In addition, these burning meteors are often times brighter during this overlapping of showers than those typically seen.
