GARDEN CITY — Garden City residents have elected Bill Jacobs as mayor, the first time in decades that the city will see a new face in the city's head office position.
This year’s race marked a sea change in Garden City, as Jacobs will replace five-term Garden City Mayor John Evans, who announced he would be stepping down after this year. Jacobs beat out fellow candidates Molly Lenty and Teresa Roundy.
The candidates received the following vote totals as of Tuesday night:
Jacobs - 1,795 votes, 62.1%
Lenty - 1,008 votes, 34.9%
Roundy - 88 votes, 3%
