KINGSTON— Ulster County Democrats scored a sweeping win, flipping five Republican-held legislative seats from longtime incumbents during campaigns that one party leader described as a clear repudiation of Republican politics nationally and locally. “I think that voters generally are fed up with it,” said Legislative Majority Leader Abe Uchitelle (D-District 5).
Unofficial results from the Ulster County Board of Elections show Democrats winning the following districts:
District 2: Ann Peters (D) defeated Ron Polacco (R), 62 percent–37 percent;
District 4: Michael Berardi (D) beat incumbent Eric Kitchen (R), 57 percent–42 percent;
District 9: Amy Dooley (D) unseated Herbert Litts III (R) , 58 percent-41 percent;
District 10: Dominick Marino (D) toppled Gina Hansut (R), 55 percent–44 per
