MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Members of the Memphis Safe Task Force arrested an attempted murder suspect as he waited for traffic court Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The Marshals Service said the Memphis Safe Task Force obtained information that attempted murder suspect, 57-year-old James Lyons, would be appearing in state court on a traffic ticket. Officers arrested Lyons on that outstanding attempted murder warrant as he waited to see the judge.

“Occasionally, violent offenders make mistakes after trying to hide, and we can take them into custody easily. Lyons wanted to fight a traffic ticket, and we are happy to have him in custody for a much more serious offense,” said Tyreece Miller, United States Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee.
