A Kentucky Republican who will soon enter his final legislative session is hoping to strengthen the state’s distracted-driving laws before he leaves office next year.

Rep. Jimmy Higdon, R-Lebanon, presented the “Phone-Down Kentucky Act” to fellow lawmakers Tuesday at the the Interim Joint Committee on Transportation.He was joined by Alyssa Burns, whose daughter Camberleigh died in a 2022 crash after a distracted driver hit their car days before her second birthday.
