AUSTIN (KXAN) -- This weekend, the second annual Humble Warrior Games will take place in Burnet to honor the most recent Austin police officer who lost his life in the line of duty.

In 2023, Senior Police Officer Jorge Pastore was killed when he responded to a domestic violence call and hostage situation.

In his honor, his wife, Kim, created the Humble Warrior Games and the Jorge Pastore Foundation.

"Just get everybody together, remember Jorge, honor his sacrifice and memory, but at the same token, raise funds so we can continue to fund additional training grants, classes, access to wellness programs and community engagement, which is the third pillar of the foundation," she said.

Last month, Kim participated in a memorial run to honor APD's 29 line-of-duty deaths.
