The deputy prime minister has said recognition for train staff who defended others in the Huntingdon stabbing attack is “absolutely deserved”. During Prime Minister Questions on Wednesday (November 5), David Lammy paid tribute to those affected by the Huntingdon stabbing attack on Saturday (November 1) evening.

Mr Lammy said the “thoughts of the whole house” went to those affected by the “appalling scenes” on Saturday. He added: “I would like to thank our emergency services for their astounding professionalism and the individuals that showed such tremendous courage to defend others.”

Charlotte Nichols (Labour MP for Warrington North), also spoke in parliament and shared praise for those affected.
