A man has been arrested after an alleged stabbing in Fife.
Police were called to High Street in Newburgh at 7.30am on Wednesday morning after reports of a serious assault.
Paramedics were dispatched to the area after a man was found injured.
He was taken to hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries and current condition is not yet known.
Police Scotland confirmed that a 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault.
An investigation has been launched and enquiries are underway.
The street was closed off by police on Wednesday. It has since been reopened.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to Ninewells Hospital."
