A fourth film in “The Mummy” series is being planned and the two original stars are returning.

Variety reports Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, who starred together in the original film released in 1999 and the sequel in 2001, will reunite for the newest movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , Sean Daniel, who was one of the producers of the original movies, will work on the upcoming film. Radio Silence will direct.

The original movie was a major hit, grossing nearly $423 million worldwide. The film was tongue-in-cheek, going more for thrilling adventure than horror.

The first sequel, “The Mummy Returns,” also did well, grossing $443 million.

The third film, “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” was released in 2008 and starred Fraser but not Weisz. It was not embraced like
